Police seek help in solving theft at South Kona ranch 06-12-02

Police are seeking the public’s help in solving a major theft that occurred sometime between April 20 and 21, 2002, at the Yee-Hop Ranch in South Kona.

Among the items stolen were chain saws, a compressor, a generator, a torch set, a wrench set, welding rods, a tool tray with tools, electric and manual fuel pumps, a first aid kit, a hand grinder, a hydraulic jack and two electric impact guns.

The items stolen were valued at more than $11,000.

Anyone with information about the theft or identity of the thieves is asked to call Detective John Leith of Kona Criminal Investigation Section at 326-4231 or the police non-emergency number at 935-3311.

Those who wish to remain anonymous may call Crime Stoppers at 329-8181 in Kona or 961-8300 in Hilo. The numbers are answered 24 hours a day. Callers will be given a coded number and their identity will remain anonymous. Callers may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000 if their call leads to an arrest, indictment or the recovery of property. Crime Stoppers neither subscribes to “Caller ID,” nor does it record phone calls.
