Police are asking the public’s help in identifying a male suspect who entered an Alii Drive condominium and accosted a 15-year-old girl visiting from Washington State.

At 5:40 a.m. on February 8, 2004, Kona police responded to a report of a burglary at the Casa de Emdeko condominium. Officers determined that a male suspect had approached the girl, but fled on foot after she woke up and startled him. The girl was not injured.

The suspect is described as a Caucasian male in his late 20’s to early 30’s, being 5-foot-2 in height with a skinny build, and having a tan complexion and short brown hair. The suspect was wearing long white swim shorts with a possible red flower print and no shirt.

Police are asking anyone with information about the burglary and attempted sexual assault to call Detective Christopher Gali of the West Hawaii Juvenile Aid Section at 326-4268 or the police non-emergency number at 935-3311.
