Police seek information on Banyan Drive theft 10-16-03

Police are seeking the public’s help in solving a theft that occurred on Saturday, July 26, 2003, on Banyan Drive in Hilo.
South Hilo patrol officers determined that sometime between 12:30 and 1:45 p.m. that day, an older woman stole a four-foot plastic display surfboard with a “Corona” logo on it and chrome faucet handles from a bar and grill on Banyan Drive.
The suspect, an older woman, was observed inside the women’s bathroom by an employee. The suspect was later seen on a surveillance tape leaving the restaurant with the display surfboard in a black trash bag taken from the women’s restroom. Also missing were two light bulbs and the restroom’s faucet handles.
The suspect was described as being about five feet in height, weighing about 200 pounds with a heavy build and having gray straight hair and a fair complexion. She was also described as wearing a light green dress.
Anyone with information about the theft or the identity of the suspect is asked to call the police non-emergency number at 935-3311.
