South Kohala police are seeking the public’s help in solving several thefts that occurred Thursday (February 20, 2003) at the Big Island Top Soil baseyard near the entrance of the LST Landing in Kawaihae.

Sometime during the early morning hours, a thief or thieves broke into five semi-trailer trucks belonging to Big Island Top Soil and stole Pioneer brand stereo CD/receivers and speakers valued at more than $700.

Anyone with information about the break-ins or the identifies of the theives is asked to call Officer Ken Quiocho of the South Kohala Patrol or the Waimea police station at 887-3080 or the police non-emergency number at 935-3311.

Those who wish to remain anonymous may call Crime Stoppers at 961-8300 in Hilo or 329-8181 in Kona. The numbers are answered 24 hours a day. Callers will be given a coded number and their identity will remain anonymous. Callers may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000 if their call leads to an arrest, indictment or the recovery of property. Crime Stoppers neither subscribes to “Caller ID,” nor does it record phone calls.
