Police are seeking the public’s help in solving the theft of koa wood that occurred sometime between Thursday, June 13, and Monday, June 17, 2002, at Kaimalino Ranch in Hookena, South Kona.

The suspect or suspects removed various lengths of cut koa wood valued at more than $2,000 from a storage yard. The wood was then dragged several hundred feet to a waiting vehicle parked along the Hawaii Belt Road (Route 11).

Anyone with information about the theft or identities of the suspects is asked to call Officer Don Takahashi of the Kona Patrol Division at 326-4646 or the police non-emergency number at 935-3311.

Those who wish to remain anonymous may call Crime Stoppers at 329-8181 in Kona or 961-8300 in Hilo. The numbers are answered 24 hours a day. Callers will be given a coded number and their identity will remain anonymous. Callers may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000 if their call leads to an arrest, indictment or recovery of property. Crime Stoppers neither subscribes to “Caller ID” nor records phone calls.
