Theft Suspect
CAUGHT ON CAMERA – A suspect wanted by police is caught by a bank camera using the ATM machine with a stolen bankcard. The suspect has hit a number of businesses and individuals in Hilo.

Police are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying a thief who has been stealing wallets and purses at a number of businesses in Hilo.

Police said the thief usually operates by entering a business on some pretext, stealing any purses or wallets left unattended and using the credit and identification cards of the victim.

He has been photographed on bank cameras using stolen bankcards to withdraw cash from ATM machines.

The suspect is described only as being a Caucasian male, being six feet in height, weighing about 160 pounds and having a slim build.

Any one with information about the identity of the thief, pictured above, is asked to call Officer Robert Pauole of the South Hilo Patrol at 961-2311 or the police non-emergency number at 935-3311.

Those who wish to remain anonymous may call Crime Stoppers at 961-8300. The numbers are answered 24 hours a day. Callers will be given a coded number and their identity will remain anonymous. Callers may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000 if their call leads to an arrest, indictment or the recovery of property. Crime Stoppers neither subscribes to “Caller ID,” nor does it record phone calls.
