Police Seek to Solve Theft of Puna Palms 03-09-01

Puna police are seeking the public’s help in solving the theft of an estimated $3,000 worth of palm trees from the Ainaloa subdivision in Puna.

Sometime between the morning of December 8, 2000, and the following morning, a thief or thieves went to the top of Ainaloa Boulevard, also known as the “Connector Lot” because it connects Ainaloa to the Hawaiian Acres subdivision, and removed about 20 palms planted alongside the road. The thieves then struck again on January 23, 2001, and took 25 more palms from the area.

Anyone with information about the theft or the identity of the thieves is asked to call Officer Jefferson Grantz of the Puna Patrol at 966-5835 or the police non-emergency number at 935-3311.

Those who wish to remain anonymous may call Crime Stoppers at 961-8300 in Hilo or 329-8181 in Kona. The identities of Crime Stoppers callers are kept strictly confidential.
