Hilo police are looking for two male suspects who robbed the McDonald’s restaurant at the Puainako Town Center on Saturday evening (March 29, 2003).

Responding to a 7:09 p.m. call, South Hilo Patrol officers learned that two unknown males walked up to the drive-in cashier’s window, sprayed the female cashier with what police believe is pepper spray, grabbed the cash drawer and fled on foot into the surrounding neighborhood.

The cashier was taken to the Hilo Medical Center, where she was treated for her injuries and released.

The suspects were described only as male Caucasians 18 to 20 years old.

Police ask that anyone who noticed anything suspicious in the area about the time of the robbery to call the police non-emergency number at 935-3311.

Those who wish to remain anonymous may call Crime Stoppers at 961-8300 in Hilo or 329-8181 in Kona. The numbers are answered 24 hours a day. Callers will be given a coded number and their identity will remain anonymous. Callers may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000 if their call leads to an arrest, indictment or the recovery of property. Crime Stoppers neither subscribes to “Caller ID,” nor does it record phone calls.
