MEDIA RELEASE UPDATE

The Hawaii County Police Department’s Traffic Services Section and the Hawaii Isle Police Activities League (HI-PAL) are still signing up teams for 3-on-3 basketball tournaments to be played next month in East and West Hawaii.

The “Click It or Ticket” 3-on-3 West Hawaii Basketball Tournament is scheduled for May 7 and 8 at the Kailua-Kona Gymnasium. The East Hawaii Tournament is set for May 21-23 at the Papaikou Gymnasium.

Entries are being accepted in the following divisions: 8 & Under, 9-10, 11-12, 13-14, 15-18 (coed), 12 & Under Girls, 14 & Under Girls and 15-18 Girls.

“The tournaments are scheduled in conjunction with the national ‘Click It or Ticket’ campaign scheduled from May 24 through June 6, 2004,” said Sergeant Randy Apele, head of the Traffic Services Section.

Interested teams should call Apele at 961-2305, Officer Joseph Kealoha at the West Hawaii HI-PAL office at 326-4276 or Dennis Onishi at the East Hawaii HI-PAL office at 961-2219.

Because of limited space available, teams will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. The deadlines for entry are April 30, 2004, for West Hawaii and May 14, 2004, for East Hawaii.
