An autopsy has been ordered on the body of a Puna man who died Sunday (December 24) at the Pahoa pool.

The victim has been identified as 43-year-old David King of Pahoa.

Police received a report of a swimmer face down at the bottom of the shallow end of the pool at 9:23 a.m. Sunday.

A county lifeguard had pulled the man from the water and administered cardiopulmonary resuscitation until Fire Department personnel arrived on the scene. He was unresponsive and taken to Hilo Community Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The case is classified as a coroner’s inquest.
