A dozen Big Island police officers have been promoted to higher ranks now that 17 new officers from the 67th police recruit class are on the street.
Four of the recently-promoted policemen were promoted from detective to lieutenant, while the others were promoted from officer to either detective or sergeant.
With the promotions, the officers listed below now have the following assignments, effective Monday, September 18:
Albert Cortez – lieutenant, Kona Patrol.
Robert Wagner – lieutenant, Criminal Investigations Section.(Kona).
Glenn Uehana – lieutenant, Juvenile Aid Section (Kona).
Chad Basque – lieutenant, Kona Patrol.
Lorenzo Artienda – detective, Juvenile Aid Section (Hilo).
Rio Amon-Wilkins – detective, Criminal Investigations Section (Kona).
Jefferson Grantz – detective, Criminal Investigations Section (Kona).
Ian Lee Loy – detective, Criminal Investigations Section (Hilo).
Reed Mahuna – detective, Criminal Investigations Section (Kona).
Craig Higaki, detective, Internal Affairs.
George Makua – sergeant, South Hilo Patrol.
Kenneth Bugado Jr. – sergeant, Ka’u Patrol.
The 17 newest officers began solo patrol assignments on Saturday, September 16, as listed below:
Kona District – Casey Cabral, Kasey Ferreira, Justin Hooser, David Lim, Paul Mangus, Tyler Prokopec, Michael Santos, Willaim Simpson, Joseph Stender, Shaine Tavares, Mike Thompson, Leonard Warren, Aaron Yamanaka.
South Kohala – Bobbie-Jo Sagon.
North Kohala: Scott Dewey, Robert Keffer, Clinton Lewe Song.
