Media Release

The Hawaiʻi Police Department is reminding the public that our beach parks are a precious asset to our community. While the County of Hawaiʻi prides itself in the many parks available to the community, all too often they become the staging area for illegal alcohol consumption and drug use.

The Police Department’s Community Policing Unit will partner with other local agencies and community members to address these concerns and other illegal activities at our beach parks. This coordinated effort will begin with education and community awareness.

Officers from the Community Policing Unit plan to contact people at beach parks along Banyan Drive and Kalanianaʻole Avenue to hear their concerns.

In addition, police officers, along with community organizations, will hold an information booth at Richardson Beach Park on Friday, September 14, from 1-3 p.m.

For more information, you may call Officer Nicole Leyson at 961-8121.
