Puna police will be stepping up traffic enforcement throughout the district.

Because of the high incidence of traffic-related injuries and the upcoming holiday season, police will focus attention on speeding, drunk driving and seat belt, child restraint and other safety violations.

Particular attention will be concentrated on the Volcano Highway (Route 11) and the Keaau-Pahoa Road (Route 130) and the subdivisions of Hawaiian Paradise Park, Hawaiian Beaches, Ainaloa and Leilani Estates.

In addition, police will be conducting traffic awareness programs. Anyone wishing to participate in traffic awareness programs and sign-waiving is asked to call Puna Community Policing officers at 966-5835.
