HAWAII COUNTY POLICE DEPARTMENT
RECORDS AND IDENTIFICATION SECTION
LIEUTENANT EDWIN TANAKA
DECEMBER 10, 2002
The Records and Identification Section of the Hawaii County Police Department in Hilo will close its doors at 3:30 p.m. weekdays to allow staff members enough time to complete their paperwork for the day.
Lieutenant Edwin Tanaka, who heads the section, said department personnel will still answer telephone queries from the public until 4:30 p.m. during weekdays.
Persons who require services such as fingerprinting or public access to the computer terminal for conviction records, however, should make their requests at the police headquarters in Hilo before 3:30 p.m., Tanaka said. The hours for registering firearms will continue to be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Tanaka said the new public hours for the Records and Identification Section will be from 7:45 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on weekdays, starting Thursday, January 2, 2003.
Residents living outside Hilo will still be able to pick up copies of requested reports at the various police stations around the island from 7:45 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Mondays through Fridays.
