Ka’u police are looking for a thief or thieves who stole 80 bags of cement from a construction site at the Keaiwa Bridge on the Belt Highway (Route 11) at the 51-mile marker just outside of Pahala.

Police said the theft occurred sometime between 5:30 p.m. Friday (June 22, 2001) and 6:30 a.m. Monday (June 25, 2001).

The suspects appeared to have used the construction company’s blue 1987 flatbed truck, then returned it to the construction site. An odometer reading showed the truck was driven about 150 miles.

Anyone with information about the theft or identity of the thieves is asked to call Officer Cory Koi of the Ka’u Patrol at 939-2520 or the police non-emergency number at 935-3311.
