Early Saturday morning (November 23, 2002), thieves attempted to break into several warehouses and auto repair shops on Makaala Street.

The thieves broke into one of the businesses and stole an undisclosed number of custom silk-screened T-shirts and other miscellaneous items. Before leaving the area, they also punctured a number of vehicle tires.

Late Sunday or early Monday, vandals sprayed graffiti and caused other damage to properties along Makaala Street. It was not known if the vandalism was related to the earlier break-ins.
