Police have arrested two men suspected of assaulting a 33-year-old Hilo man who has been hospitalized in critical condition since Saturday (October 26, 2002).
The suspects were arrested at 2:30 p.m. Monday. They are being held in the Hilo police cellblock pending further investigation by Hilo Criminal Investigation Section detectives.
The victim, identified as Darrell Wheeler, 33, of a Keaukaha address, has been in critical condition with head injuries at the Hilo Medical Center since Saturday.
Responding to a call Saturday afternoon, police found the victim lying unconscious on the ground at a Kalanianaole Street address.
Anyone with information about Saturday’s incident is asked to call Detective Tom Poy of the Hilo Criminal Investigation Section at 961-2383 or the police non-emergency number at 935-3311.

Callers will be given a coded number and their identity will remain anonymous. Callers may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000 if their call leads to an arrest, indictment or the recovery of property.
