HCCC ESCAPEES – Police are looking for Kyle Keola Quiilausing, 31, left, and Ludy L. Lazo, 35, who escaped Tuesday night from the Hawaii Community Correctional Center. Police consider both men to be dangerous and caution the public not to approach them.

Big Island police are looking for two inmates who escaped Tuesday (June 21, 2005) from the Hawaii Community Correctional Center on Punahele Street in Hilo.

The two were identified as Kyle Keola Quilausing, 31, and Ludy L. Lazo, 35.

Police received a call from the facility about 11:25 p.m. from officials, who said the two inmates had escaped by tying bed sheets together, climbing up about 18 feet and escaping through a window in the sunroof of the facility. The two inmates were last seen heading down Waianuenue Avenue in Hilo. Police launched an immediate search of the area surrounding the facility, but were unable to locate the inmates.

Quilausing is described as being 5-foot-8 in height, weighing about 145 pounds and having short black hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a white T-shirt and dark colored pants.

Lazo is described as being 5-foot-7 in height, wearing about 140 pounds and having black hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a white T-shirt and dark colored shorts.

Police said both men are considered dangerous and should not be approached.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of either of the men is asked to call Officer Robert Pule of the South Hilo Patrol at 961-2213 or the police non-emergency number at 935-3311.
