HAWAII COUNTY POLICE DEPARTMENT
TRAFFIC SERVICES SECTION
SERGEANT RANDY K. APELE
JUNE 20, 2002
The Hawaii County Police Department is looking for a few good men and women to act as volunteer disabled parking enforcement officers.
As part of a pilot program, the volunteers will enforce disabled parking laws throughout South Hilo and Kona and be empowered to issue citations for illegally parking in disabled parking stalls.
Sergeant Randy K. Apele, head of the Traffic Services Section, said applicants must be at least 21 years old and have a high school diploma or equivalent.
Interested applicants will be subject to a screening process consisting of a character appraisal, background check and interview. Successful applicants will also undergo a short training course.
The recruitment period will continue through Friday, July 5, 2002. Application packets may be picked up at the Traffic Services Section at the Hilo police station, 349 Kapiolani Street, or the Kona police station in Kealakehe.
For more information, call Sergeant Apele at 961-2305.
