Media Release

Big Island Police are investigating a robbery Tuesday (June 10) at a Waimea pharmacy.

An unidentified man who appeared to be armed with a handgun entered the pharmacy off Kawaihae Road with his face obscured and demanded drugs. He then fled the area on foot.

He is described as about 30 years old, between 5-foot-11 and 6-foot-2 with a medium-to-slightly-husky build and wearing camouflage clothing.

Around the time of the incident, a light blue smaller vehicle, possibly a Toyota Corolla or something similar, was observed in the pharmacy’s parking lot. A man described as a 20-year-old Caucasian male in jeans was observed standing outside the car. Two other males were inside the car. It is unknown at this time whether the males at the blue car were witnesses or persons connected to the robbery.

Police ask anyone with information about this case to call Detective Regino Saludares at 326-4646, extension 277, or the Police Department’s non-emergency line at 935-3311. Tipsters who prefer to remain anonymous may call Crime Stoppers at 961-8300 in Hilo or 329-8181 in Kona.
