Wanted for escape

MEDIA RELEASE

Police are asking for the public’s help in locating a 44-year-old man wanted for escape. 

Richard Correa was sentenced to 120 days imprisonment for traffic and contempt of court convictions. He was placed on a work release program. Correa was to have returned to the Hawaii Community Correction Center’s Hale Nani Facility on May 6, 2006, but failed to do so and has not been seen or heard from since.   

Correa is described as a local male, 5-foot-10, 180 pounds with brown eyes, brown hair, a tan complexion and a medium build. 

Police advise the public to avoid approaching him, as he has a history of violence. Anyone who sees Correa or has knowledge of his whereabouts is asked to call Detective Ian LeeLoy at 961-2381 or the Police Department’s non-emergency number at 935-3311.  Those who wish to remain anonymous may call Crime Stoppers at 961-8300 in Hilo or 329-8181 in Kona.  All Crime Stoppers information is kept confidential.
