Hilo police are looking for an unknown male who grabbed a camera bag and camera from a 76-year-old woman Tuesday (May 27, 2003) on Banyan Drive.

Responding to a 2:20 p.m. call, South Hilo Patrol officers determined that the female visitor was walking along Banyan Drive when an unknown male suspect grabbed the camera bag from her and ran. The suspect, described as wearing black-colored shorts and a white T-shirt, was last seen running through Liliuokalani Park toward Kamehameha Avenue.

The victim suffered minor injuries to her right hand.

Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to call Officer Robert Pauole of the South Hilo Patrol at 935-2311 or the police non-emergency number at 935-3311.

Those who wish to remain anonymous may call Crime Stoppers at 961-8300 in Hilo or 329-8181 in Kona. The numbers are answered 24 hours a day. Callers will be given a coded number and their identity will remain anonymous. Callers may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000 if their call leads to an arrest, indictment or the recovery of property.
