Big Island police have arrested a 17-year-old Puna boy for allegedly making a false bomb threat at Pahoa High School.
After being disciplined in school, the youth allegedly called from a pay phone outside the school library about 10:15 a.m. Tuesday (March 1, 2005), telling school officials, “There’s a bomb in your school.”
School officials then called police, who arrested the suspect about 1:30 p.m.
East Hawaii Juvenile Aid Section detectives are conferring with the County Prosecutor’s Office to bring possible felony charges against the suspect.
The suspect has been released pending further investigation by JAS detectives.
Anyone with information about the bomb threat incident is asked to call Detective John Ancheta of the East Hawaii JAS at 961-2276 or the police non-emergency number at 935-3311.
