MEDIA RELEASE

Police have questioned five male juveniles who are suspected of being responsible for a number of burglaries in Waimea.

The juveniles, ranging in ages from 12 through 17, were questioned last week for three burglaries committed during October.

They were later released into the custody of their parents pending formal charges.

Police said a 12-year-old boy and three 14-year-olds were responsible for a burglary and theft from one residence in Waimea. One of the 14-year-old boys and a 17-year-old were responsible for two more burglaries in the same neighborhood, police said.

Police recovered nearly $6,000 in stolen items. Among the items recovered were an antique pocket watch valued at $2,500, seven gold necklaces valued at $700, a camcorder, two video cameras and a CD player and clock.
