Hawaiʻi Island Police have arrested and charged two males and one female following the execution of a narcotics search warrant at a residence in Hawaiian Paradise Park on Monday (February 10).

Police have identified the individuals arrested and charged as 38-year-old John Kaleolani Overturf of Hawaiian Paradise Park, 50-year-old Jacqueline “Jackie” Aloha Overturf of Oregon, and 28-year-old Roberto Segobia Jr. of Kealakekua.

Acting on information received from the public that there was illegal drug activity at a residence on 17th Avenue in Hawaiian Paradise Park, officers were able to obtain a search warrant for the residence. In addition to illegal drug activity, information was also received that individuals within the residence were armed and had made general threats against law enforcement.

Shortly after 12:17 p.m. Monday afternoon (February 10), the Hawaiʻi Police Department’s Special Response Team executed the warrant on the residence and arrested the three listed individuals. During a search of the residence, police recovered 614.48 grams of methamphetamine, 19.08 grams of heroin, 39.3 grams of marijuana, and a small amount cocaine.   

After conferring with prosecutors, John Overturf was charged with 3 counts of Promotion of a Dangerous Drug in the first degree, two counts of attempted Promotion of a Dangerous Drug in the first degree, Promotion of a Dangerous Drug in the second degree, Promotion of a Dangerous Drug in the third degree, Promotion of a Detrimental Drug in the third degree, Ownership Prohibited, Unauthorized Control of a Propelled Vehicle (UCPV), and Drug Paraphernalia. His total bail was set at $321,000.00

Jacqueline Overturf was charged with two counts of Promotion of a Dangerous Drug in the third degree, Promotion of a Dangerous Drug in the second degree, attempted Promotion of a Dangerous Drug in the first degree, and Drug Paraphernalia. Her bail was set at $95,000.

Roberto Segobia Jr. was charged with Promotion of a Dangerous Drug in the second degree, Promotion of a Dangerous Drug in the third degree, Promotion of a Harmful Drug in the fourth degree, and Drug Paraphernalia. His bail was set at $8,000.

All three parties remained in custody pending their initial court appearance which was scheduled for Wednesday (February 12) in South Hilo District Court.

During this police operation some residents in the area and on social media reported a low-flying county helicopter, the sound of gunshots, and that they observed injured individuals. Upon execution of the warrant, Hawai’i Fire Department personal were standing by. This was due to threats that had been received and the potential high-risk nature of this type of operation. At no time did the helicopter fly below the lowest safe altitude (LSALT). There were no shots fired by police personnel or anyone else, and there were no reported injuries. The Special Response Team did utilize non-lethal diversionary devices upon entering the residence.
