Hawaiʻi Island police are asking for the public’s help in identifying a man wanted for questioning in connection with an unauthorized entry to a motor vehicle case along with numerous theft offenses stemming from an incident on February 5 in Pāhoa.

A 34-year-old Pāhoa woman reported that at about 8:40 p.m. on February 5, someone removed her purse from her sports-utility vehicle while it was parked off Highway 130 in Pāhoa. Her debit card and EBT card were later used at businesses in Pāhoa and Hilo.

Police have obtained a photo of a man they want to question. They ask anyone who recognizes him to call the Police Department’s non-emergency line at 935-3311.

Tipsters who prefer to remain anonymous may call the islandwide Crime Stoppers number at 961-8300 and may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.
