Hawaiʻi Island police are asking for the public’s help in identifying an adult male wanted in connection with the theft of an iPhone 6 Plus.

At about 5:49 p.m. Saturday (April 2), an unknown male party removed an iPhone 6 Plus that was left behind by a customer that was ahead of the suspect in line at a checkout register at a Kailua-Kona retail store. The suspect’s images were captured on surveillance video.

The heavy-set Caucasian man was wearing a blue T-shirt, depicting a fish hook and Hawaiʻi Island in white spanning across the front of the T-shirt, a black baseball cap with a white circular logo, blue surf-shorts and black slippers.

The stolen cellphone was described as a white and silver iPhone 6 Plus in a ‘Moshi’ brand charcoal grey flip-type wallet case.
Police ask anyone with information about this case or the identity of the male party in the photo to call Officer Andrew Walters at 326-4646 or the Police Department’s non-emergency line at 935-3311.
