5-12-22 Police Asking for Public’s Assistance Identifying Man Involved in Waikoloa Vehicle Theft

Hawaiʻi Island police are asking for the public’s assistance identifying a man seen stealing a white 2020 Ford Transit delivery van in the Waikoloa Resort area on Friday, May 6, 2022. The van has since been recovered, however police are asking for help in identifying the suspect.   

At 9:48 a.m., an unidentified male took the van, which was parked fronting a business at a shopping center along Waikoloa Beach Road. Video surveillance shows the suspect in the area at the time the van was stolen.

The male suspect is described as possibly in his 30s, wearing a black, red, yellow, and green striped poncho with hoodie, a black shirt underneath, a red face mask pulled up to his forehead, and light blue board shorts. At the time of the theft he was carrying an extra-large white tote bag with a black pattern.
