7-27-22 West Hawaii Telecommunications Issues May Occur This Evening During Repair Work

Hawaii Police Department reports that west Hawaii residents may experience issues using 9-1-1 and the police department’s non-emergency phone line this evening as Hawaiian Telcom continues to conduct repairs on a fiber line break affecting telephone and cell phone communications in West Hawai‘i.

The repair work will take place between 10 p.m. Wednesday, July 27, and 5 a.m., Thursday, July 28, 2022. Hawaiian Telcom landline customers and cellphone services in Kona, Kealakekua, Waikoloa, Kawaihae, and parts of Ka’u may be affected during this time frame due to this work.

If residents are in need of assistance and are unable to call 9-1-1 or the non-emergency line, they are advised to please go to the nearest police station or medical facility.

The Kona police station is located at 74-611 Hale Mākaʻi Place, Kailua-Kona, and the Ka’u police station is located in Nā‘ālehu at 95-5355 Māmalahoa Highway, Nāʻālehu. The Waimea police station is located at 67-5185 Kamāmalu Street, Waimea.
