Hawai‘i Island police are investigating a robbery at a credit union in Pepe‘ekeo on Thursday afternoon (May 30).

Shortly after 1 p.m., a masked man pointed what appeared to be a handgun at  two tellers at the Hāmākua Coast Community Federal Credit Union and demanded cash. He fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of money. No one was injured during the robbery.

The suspect is described as possibly in his 30s, about 5-foot-8 to 6-feet tall with a husky build. He was wearing dark glasses, a baseball cap, a sweatshirt, camouflage pants. He had a fluorescent green cloth covering his facial area and was carrying a black backpack.
