Hilo robbery (update) 12-19-14

A 24 year-old male was arrested in connection with a robbery of a convenience store on Kekela Street in Hilo on Tuesday (December 16, 2014).

Andrew Sandeen, of no permanent address, was arrested on 12-18-14, at 3:20 pm, after he was observed walking on the shoulder area of Highway 190 in Kona. Sandeen was arrested for the robbery, Resisting Arrest, and Assault 1st Degree. The resisting arrest and assault was a result of the suspect Sandeen assaulting a police detective. The arrest was a result of the investigation which revealed Sandeen as being the responsible party who entered and robbed the convenience store.

On 12-19-14, at 6:25 pm, Sandeen was charged with the robbery, along with Resisting Arrest, Assault 1st Degree, and an added charge of Theft in the 2nd Degree. Sandeen is being held at the Hilo Police Cellblock pending his initial court appearance, his bail was set at $46,000.

On 12-19-14, at 6:25 pm, Marie Brightbill of no permanent address, who was also previously arrested for the robbery, was released pending further investigation.
