Kona police seized a total of 4,170 growing marijuana plants ranging in height from 1 to 5 feet during the past three days as part of its continuing “Counter-Cannabis Field Operation.”

The plants were seized in the Holualoa, Kealakekua, Captain Cook, Honaunau, Hookena, Opihihale and Kipahoehoe areas of North and South Kona.

Joining Kona police officers in the marijuana eradication enforcement effort were personnel from the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, Hawaii Air National Guard and Department of Land and Natural Resources.

There were no arrests made, nor were there any unusual incidents reported during the operation.

Lieutenant Robert Hickcox of the Kona Vice Section thanked the public for its understanding and patience during the three days of the eradication mission. He also thanked the public for its support and assistance in providing information regarding areas where marijuana plants are being grown.
