MEDIA RELEASE

South Kohala police are asking for the public’s help in finding a surfboard lost on Saturday morning (February 22, 2003) on Kawaihae Road-Queen Kaahumanu Highway (Highway 19) somewhere between Waimea and the Kiholo area of North Kona.

Sometime between the hours of 8:15 and 9 a.m., a tri-fin Town and Country surfboard fell off a truck on the way to a local surfing spot. Attempts to find the surfboard along the highway were unsuccessful.

The surfboard was described as being dark green on the edges and light green in the center with names painted on it. It contains special identification marks and has autographs of local professional surfers on it.

The surfboard was inside a padded gray and yellow “Da Kine” bag when it was lost.

Anyone with information about the surfboard or its location is asked to call Officer Ken Quiocho of the South Kohala Patrol or the Waimea police station at 887-3080 or the police non-emergency number at 935-3311.
