Media Release (correction)

Two more persons have been arrested in connection with an October burglary in Hilo and some of the suspects have been linked to a second burglary.

On October 27, a house on Kaumana Drive was broken into and jewelry and electronics were removed.

Police arrested three suspects at the time. Two were released pending further investigation. The third, 20-year-old Tyler Leopoldino of Hilo, was charged on October 31 with first-degree burglary and second-degree theft.

Investigation by the Area I Criminal Investigations Section led to the arrest of another man and a woman this month.

The man, 23-year-old German Lee of Hilo, was arrested Saturday (November 1) and taken to the Hilo police cellblock while detectives continued the investigation, which linked Lee and Leopoldino to a burglary in the Waiākea Uka area on October 26. In that case, various items were removed from a home on Alaʻoli Street. Police investigation led to the recovery of some of the stolen goods.

On Sunday (November 2), Lee was charged with two counts of burglary and two counts of theft. His bail was set at $12,500 and he made his initial court appearance Monday (November 3).

Also on Monday, 21-year-old Kylee Leialoha of Hilo was arrested and charged with second-degree theft for her alleged role in the Kaumana Drive burglary. She was released from police custody after posting $2,000 bail.

Leopoldino, who was out on bail in the Kaumana Drive case, was arrested Monday on suspicion of burglary and theft for the Alaʻoli Street case. Police seized his 1995 Acura Integra for forfeiture for allegedly being used in the commission of both burglaries. Leopoldino was released later Monday pending further investigation.
