West Hawaii Criminal Investigation Section detectives have charged a 27-year-old Waimea man with 18 offenses for crimes committed in the South Kohala and Kona districts.

The suspect, Blane Apostadiro, was charged Friday (March 18, 2005) with three counts of unauthorized control of a propelled motor vehicle, unauthorized entry into a motor vehicle, identity theft, theft of a credit card, fraudulent use of a credit card, theft, two firearms offenses and eight traffic offenses. His aggregate bail for the offenses was set at $50,000.

Unable to post immediate bail, Apostadiro is being held at the Kona police cellblock.

West Hawaii CIS detectives are continuing their investigation in anticipation of filing additional charges against the suspect.

Based on information from the investigation and information from concerned citizens, detectives arrested Apostadiro without incident Wednesday (March 16, 2005) at a residence in the Liliuokalani subdivision of Kailua-Kona. The arrest was the result of a two-month investigation into a series of burglary and theft cases in the South Kohala and Kona districts.
