Hawaiʻi Island police are investigating two home invasion robberies in Kona.

Both robberies occurred in the evening hours on the 73-1200 block of Hiolani Street in Kailua-Kona. In both cases, an unknown man pointed a handgun at the victims and demanded cash. He was dressed from head to toe in dark clothing, was wearing gloves and had his head and face covered.

In the first incident occurred around 7:35 p.m. on November 2 [corrected date]. A 72-year-old man reported that the suspect entered his house, pointed a gun at him, demanded cash and left with an undisclosed amount of money. He also took two cell phones belonging to the victim and his wife, who was in another room at the time of the robbery.

The second incident occurred around 8:10 p.m. on November 12. Two women, ages 69 and 72, reported that they heard a noise in the living room and found the suspect, who pointed a handgun at them and asked for cash and telephones. He fled with an undisclosed amount of cash, two cell phones and a land line handset.

The second set of victims described him as Caucasian, thin, 5-foot-6 to 5-foot-7 and wearing black clothing, including a black sweatshirt with an orange design on the front. He was carrying a black backpack with white lettering on the right strap.
