MEDIA RELEASE

Thanks to a generous gift from a couple who live part-time in Kailua-Kona, the Hawaii County Police Department is distributing 105 Polaroid Express cameras to help police officers investigate domestic violence cases.

Mr. and Mrs. Bill True, who also live in Seattle, Washington, donated the cameras to the department.

The cameras, valued at a total of $1,604, are being distributed to community police and patrol officers in West Hawaii.

The cameras will be used to document injuries and to assist with investigations relating to domestic violence.

Carole Gruskin, West Hawaii coordinator for the Rural Community Response Project, put couple in touch with police so they could make the donation, and County Council Member Nancy Pisicchio introduced a resolution, passed unanimously, authorizing the department to accept the gift.
