Big Island police are looking for a 23-year-old Puna man who was indicted by a grand jury for second-degree robbery.

Paul Hyram Vaivai, also known as “Kawika,” is wanted for a July 31, 2000, robbery in the Nanawale Estates subdivision of Puna.

The victim was struck on the head with a pipe and robbed of an undisclosed amount of cash.

Vaivai is described as being part-Hawaiian, being 6-feet-1 in height, weighing about 175 pounds, having a tan complexion and having short black hair, a mustache and a slight goatee.

He was last seen in the Nanawale Estates area.

Anyone with information about Vaivai’s whereabouts is asked to call Detective Gregg Esteban of the Hilo Criminal Investigation Section at 961-2384 or the police non-emergency number at 935-3311.

Those who wish to remain anonymous may call Crime Stoppers at 961-8300 in Hilo or 329-8181 in Kona. The numbers are answered 24 hours a day.
