Big Island police are asking for the public’s help in identifying whoever was responsible for stealing welders from two different locations in North Hilo.

A Miller welder worth $5,000 was taken from a Honomu home on Old Mamalahoa Highway on January 28. Another Miller welder worth $5,000 was taken from a business on Humuulu Trail in Ookala on February 19.

The owners of the welders have indicated they are willing to provide a reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons who stole the welders.

Police ask anyone with information about the thefts to call Officer Michael DeCoito at 962-2120 or the Police Department’s non-emergency number at 935-3311.

Tipsters who prefer to remain anonymous may call Crime Stoppers at 961-8300 in Hilo or 329-8181 in Kona. All Crime Stoppers information is kept confidential.
