MEDIA RELEASE

Police are asking for assistance in locating two persons who have been reported missing for a week in Puna.

The missing men were identified as Adatchie (Kalehua) Eaton, 28, and Jack Sapienza, 34.

Both men were last seen on Tuesday (September 12, 2000) camping near Oars Beach in the Waawaa area of Puna.

Eaton was described as being part-Hawaiian, being 5-feet-10 in height, weighing 200 pounds with a heavy build and having black hair and brown eyes.

Sapienza was described as being part-Puerto Rican, being 5-feet-10 in height and weighing 175 pounds.

Puna police said friends of the two men checked on them Thursday and found camping equipment but couldn’t find the campers themselves.

Fire rescue personnel were dispatched to scene, but a search of the area failed to turn up any sign of the two men.

Police have initiated a missing persons case into the matter.

Anyone with any information about the whereabouts of the two men are asked to call Officer Thomas Letulle Jr. of the Puna Patrol at 966-5835.

Those who wish to remain anonymous may call Crime Stoppers at 961-8300 in Hilo or 329-8181 in Kona. Crime Stoppers keeps the identities of callers strictly confidential.
