Media Release (update No. 2)

Big Island Police arrested 18-year-old Ronsten Andrade early Friday morning for several bench warrants and numerous other investigations. In addition to the bench warrants, Andrade was being sought in connection with a report that occupants of a Mitsubishi sedan had smashed the window of a Honda Civic in Hawaiian Beaches on August 20 and then sideswiped the Honda before leaving the scene.

Early Friday morning, a police task force descended on a home on Tiki Court in Ainaloa and located Andrade on the property. After a short attempt to elude officers, he was taken into custody. He was charged later Friday with second-degree assault, third-degree assault, two counts of second-degree criminal property damage, unauthorized entry into a motor vehicle, three counts of unauthorized control of a propelled vehicle and contempt of court. His bail was set at $72,000.

August Fernandez, 23, of Ainaloa was arrested and charged with hindering prosecution.
