Media Release (update)
The Hawai’i Police Department wishes to clarify a statement made Tuesday (April 21) about crossbows and bows and arrows. The use of such items is not illegal in residential areas unless it puts members of the public at risk of injury or death.
A Hilo family reported that on April 2 and April 4, arrows landed in their Waiakea Uka yard while children were outside playing. That case was classified as a felony reckless endangering investigation because of the danger to the children.
