A note from Police Chief Benjamin Moszkowicz:
The department conducts a Community Satisfaction Survey every two years as part of its national accreditation process. The most recent survey was conducted from April 1, 2021 to April 30, 2021.
“At the most basic level, our job in the police department is to help the public feel safe. The only way we can gauge our success and identify areas for improvement, is to solicit feedback from the community.
“It is only through honest communication that we have any hope of continuing to improve the department and the community.”
Knowing that our department’s effectiveness is ultimately determined by the confidence and cooperation of the Hawaiʻi Island community we serve, the survey included both multiple choice questions and an opportunity to make individual comments that helps us in determining Hawaii Police Department’s strengths and weaknesses.
The comment period for the 2023 Community Satisfaction Survey is open from February 1, 2023, through 4:30 p.m. on February 28, 2023. Thank you for your participation!
