During the Hawaiʻi Isle Police Activities League (HI-PAL) 2012 “Click It or Ticket” 3-on-3 basketball tournament held August 25-26 at the Honokaʻa Sports Complex gymnasium, 152 youth from 36 teams participated in 91 games.

Prior to the start of the game on each day, HI-PAL officers made an educational presentation on seat belt usage, fines associated with non-compliance and the possibility of additional costs, as well as on sportsmanship and respect.

In conjunction with the games on August 25, two Certified Child Safety Seat Inspectors were on hand to assist parents with the proper installation and inspection of child safety seats.

These are the winners of the championship games:

Girls 10 and Under Division—Pāhoa #2, Fly Girls (from Hilo and Panaʻewa)

Girls 12 and Under Division—Naʻaikane (from Honokaʻa)

Girls 14 and Under Division—Naʻaikane (from Honokaʻa)

Boys 7-8 Division—Naʻaikane (from Honokaʻa)

Boys 11-12 Division—HD (from Honokaʻa)

Boys 13-14 Division—Stingrays (from Kona)

“Click It or Ticket” is a nationwide campaign to educate drivers and passengers on the use of seat belts and child restraints and on the fines associated with non-compliance.
