In preparation for the 33rd Annual Hawaiʻi Police Activities League (HI-PAL) Winter Basketball Classic, the Hawaiʻi Police Department continues its ongoing campaign against the use of crystal methamphetamine or “ice” with a “Create Your Own Pledge” competition for intermediate school students on Hawaiʻi Island. All participants of the Winter Classic will use the selected entry and make a “Pledge against the Use of Ice” during the tournament, to be held in Hilo from December 26-29.

Pledges should be a short (three to five sentences in length), precise and to the point and must include the Hawaiʻi Meth Project’s statement “Not Even Once!”

Pledge entries should include the student’s name, age, grade and school. They may be submitted using any one of these three methods:

  • To any police station on the island of Hawai‘i,
  • To a school resource officers at an intermediate school (Hilo, Waiakea, Konawaena, Kealakehe, Honoka‘a and Pahoa)
  • By mail to:

All entries must be received by Friday, December 6. The author of the winning pledge will be recognized during the tournament’s Skills Challenge Night on December 27.
