Big Island police are asking for the public’s help in providing information about a robbery in Hilo on Tuesday (July 20).

A 25-year-old Waikoloa man reported that at 11 p.m. Tuesday, four or five unidentified persons beat and robbed him near the intersection of Ponahawai Street and Kamehameha Avenue. The suspects, identified as “local males,” were operating a dark sports-utility vehicle.

The victim had to be flown to Oahu for treatment of serious injuries.

Police ask that anyone with information about this case call Detective Robert Fujitake at 961-2377 or the Police Department’s non-emergency line at 935-3311. Tipsters who prefer to remain anonymous may call Crime Stoppers at 961-8300 in Hilo or 329-8181 in Kona. All Crime Stoppers information is kept confidential.
