The Hawaii Police Department is asking for the public’s help in identifying a female who is being sought in connection with a robbery in downtown Hilo on Tuesday evening (October 14).

Around 9:15 p.m. Tuesday, the female was confronted by security personnel at a grocery store on Kinoole Street after she attempted to steal an item from the store. A struggle ensued and the female punched a 30-year-old male employee of the store in the face. She then fled on foot heading south on Kinoole Street.

The case has been classified as a second-degree robbery.

The suspect is described as a Caucasian teenager wearing a black top, black shorts and red sandals.

Police ask anyone with information about this case to call Officer Ben Nishimoto at 961-2213 or the Police Department’s non-emergency line at 935-3311.
