Big Island police are asking for the public’s help in locating and identifying an unknown person responsible for a theft in Hilo on September 16.

Hilo patrol officers responded to Macy’s department store on Puainako Street for a reported theft. The suspect stole an item from the store and fled on foot from loss prevention agents.

He is described as approximately 5-foot-11 to 6-feet tall, 175-200 pounds, with a tan complexion and dyed blond hair. He was last seen wearing a black long-sleeved T-shirt, black shorts and a black wrist band.

Police ask that anyone with information on his identity or whereabouts call Detective Wendall Carter at 961-2378 or the Police Department’s non-emergency line at 935-3311.

Tipsters who prefer to remain anonymous may call Crime Stoppers at 961-8300 in Hilo or 329-8181 in Kona and may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.
