Big Island police are asking for the public’s help in providing information about a hit-and-run accident Tuesday (July 27) in Hilo.

The accident took place at the intersection of Ululani Street and Ponahawai Street around 12:30 p.m. A 15-year-old boy was crossing Ponahawai Street heading north when a black pickup truck traveling west on Ponahawai struck him and left the scene.

Police ask that any witnesses or anyone with information about the driver call Officer Donovan Kohara at 961-2213 or the Police Department’s non-emergency line at 935-3311. Tipsters who prefer to remain anonymous may call Crime Stoppers at 961-8300 in Hilo or 329-8181 in Kona. All Crime Stoppers information is kept confidential.
