Detectives from the Hawai’i Police Department have initiated a coroner’s inquest case in connection with a body found on Keiki Beach located on the south side of Honok�?hau Harbor late Friday night (August 7).

Kona patrol officers responded to an 11:51 p.m. report of a female body lying unresponsive on rocks on the north end of Keiki Beach. The body was taken to Kona Community Hospital, where the woman was officially pronounced dead at 4:18 a.m.

The victim has been identified as 38-year-old Kelly Susan Stevens of Kailua-Kona.

An autopsy has been scheduled to determine the exact cause of death.
